Excellent post, I wholeheartedly agree with the words of advice here. I especially want to commend the practical step of preparing beforehand and the exercise of putting oneself in your child’s shoes. Parents might overlook the stage of development their child is in at the time of an impending divorce and how their child’s degree of understanding and perspective can be influenced by this. In my experience, even years later a child will tend to hold onto to the settings that were put in place at the time of the divorce based on their age and level of understanding back then.
